हिन्दी

Hindi, the living language of millions.

हि Hindi is the modern Indo-Aryan language of North and Central India—a language of literature, devotion, cinema, and everyday life spoken by hundreds of millions across the subcontinent and its global diaspora. Rooted in Sanskrit and shaped by centuries of encounter with Persian, Arabic, and vernacular traditions, Hindi carries within it the voices of the Bhakti saints, the poetry of the Mughal courts, and the narratives and voices of modern South Asia.

From the Devanāgarī alphabet to the short stories of Premchand, or the devotional verse of Kabīr and Mīrābāī, our Hindi program offers students a rigorous and rewarding path into one of the world's great living languages—taught by leading scholars and designed for travelers, researchers, readers, and anyone drawn to the cultural life of South Asia.

ज़बान ज़रिया है, मंज़िल नहीं।

Language is a means, not a destination.
